Room04 - Kriston Gitka

I am Gitka Kriston, a designer, and my name is also my trademark. I founded the brand in 2012, creating a self-identity, refined, and unique entity that dresses tradition in a new guise, providing wearers with comfort and a unique appearance in a fast-paced world.

I was born in Mezőkövesd, where, influenced by my grandmother who worked with folk art, folk art, Hungarian motifs, and Matyó embroidery have been part of my life since I was a little girl. I've been drawing Matyó roses since I was 6 years old, and embroidering these wonderful decorative motifs since I was 8-10 years old. In the early 2010s, I refreshed my own wardrobe with some embroidery on my simpler clothes, and the feedback from people was unanimously positive. A few years later, I had the opportunity to collaborate on a very interesting project with the Hungarian painter Zsuzsanna Udvarhelyi, who lives in Monaco. I decorated the clothing and jewelry of the female figures depicted in her large-scale paintings with my own embroidery. These artworks were exhibited at the Le Metropole Center in Monaco, as well as the Szent Gellért Baths and the Kempinski Hotel in Budapest.
